April 28, Sumy State University hosted the second day of the City of Equals youth camp on interethnic tolerance.

On this day, the camp welcomed graduates of Sumy Classical Gymnasium, Sumy Specialized School No. 17, students of various specialties from Sumy Professional College of Economics and Trade and Sumy State University.

The camp participants visited the ethnic diversity gallery to get acquainted with the ethnic communities living in the Sumy region. Interactive tasks, exchange of opinions and impressions turned into an exciting game for inquisitive minds. Participants learned about the cultural achievements, beliefs, national costumes, customs of ethnic communities, made an excursion into history and discovered the mental traits of these ethnic groups.

A coffee break was followed by a debate on the equality of ethnic communities. The participants learned to defend their views on complex issues related to equality and non-discrimination on ethnic and religious grounds, to communicate correctly and to offer their own solutions to improve policies on ethnicities and religions. This new experience proved to be valuable and useful for a deeper understanding of the motives of their behavior, attitudes toward other identities, and awareness of the importance of ethno-religious issues for society in general and territorial communities in particular.

The City of Equals Youth Camp was organized within the discipline "Interethnic and Interfaith Tolerance" (Associate Professor V. Opanasiuk) by a project group of students majoring in Management of Socio-Cultural Activities (headed by V. Prykhozhai).

The project team expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organization of the camp and is looking forward to interesting ideas and suggestions for the new camp next year. Therefore, the organizers are not saying goodbye to the participants, but are preparing other interesting surprises for this year.
