As part of the study of the discipline "System of work of psychological services and methods of work of a practical psychologist", 2nd year students of the OP "Psychology" have the opportunity not only to theoretically study the features of the work of a practical psychologist, get acquainted with the functions, principles of activity, but also to gain work experience, being active in one or another direction of the Psychological Service.
February 9-10, the 2nd training "Let's Stand Together: Comprehensive Work with Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence" was held at the Department of Psychosocial Work, which was attended by social workers and psychologists from Mykolaiv, Popivka, Krasnopil and Sumy communities.
The Sumy publishing house "University Book" presented a book by Serhiy Pobozhiy, PhD in Art History, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies of Sumy State University, Honored Artist of Ukraine, "Names of Ukraine. 100 artists. The twentieth century".
On February 7, Ilona Okhrimenko and Albina Berezhna, students of the Management of Socio-Cultural Activities program, visited the Sumy Channel studio and shared their experience of working as an event team, an organization they formed on their own to start their professional careers as students.
"Think before you share!" is the slogan of the training course in which Alina Kliuieva, a first-year student of the Social Work program, took part. The event took place on January 29 - February 5, 2024 in Prudnik (Poland) as part of the Erasmus+ program "Think before You Share - Role of Media Literacy against the wave of disinformation". The goal was to strengthen the resilience of young people by teaching them the tools and programs needed to check facts, recognize visual manipulation, and find primary sources.
February 5, at the invitation of the ResWell Collaboration research network, Associate Professor Mykola Nazarov presented the results of the second stage of the resilience study in Ukraine.
As part of thematic seminars for the Sumy State University community, the topic of gender equality indices and Ukraine's place in international rankings of gender (in)equality was discussed. The seminar was conducted by Yulia Savelieva, a senior lecturer at the Department of PPST.
February 2-3, the first training "Let's Stand Together: Comprehensive Work with Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence" was held at the Department of Psychosocial Counseling, with 12 participants from Krasnopil and Bilopil communities.
The trainers were: Svitlana Piven, PhD in Veterinary Science, Associate Professor of Public Health at Sumy State University, certified trainer in the topic "War-related sexual violence: providing comprehensive assistance to victims" and Natalia Teslyk, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies at Sumy State University.
The program of the first day of the training included 3 blocks on the following topics:
- What is conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), national legislation and international standards.
- Providing assistance to survivors of CRSV: the rights of survivors.
- Providing assistance to victims of CRSV: identification, interaction of actors.
Individual and group exercises and case studies were used to consolidate theoretical knowledge. For example, to differentiate between the two concepts of "sexual violence" and "CRSV", an exercise was conducted to identify the elements of the crime. Participants gained the ability to identify CRSV and distinguish it from sexual violence based on three main aspects: who commits the crime, for what purpose and where it occurs.
