December 12-13, at the invitation of the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance DCAF, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies Mykola Nazarov delivered a presentation at the international expert seminar "Striking a Balance between Efficiency and Democratic Civilian Control in the Defense Sector: Lessons for Ukraine from Finland, South Korea and Taiwan".

The seminar in Geneva (Switzerland) was devoted to the search for successful practices of reforms and post-war reconstruction relevant to Ukraine. During the expert seminar, Associate Professor Mykola Nazarov presented the main stages of reforming Ukraine's security and defense sector over the past 5 years and outlined the main needs for the near future. The Sumy State University researcher was one of three invited representatives of Ukraine to make the presentation and the only one to participate offline.

"Today, Ukraine needs successful examples of reforming the security and defense sector in order to minimize mistakes and use the successful experience of other countries," said Associate Professor Mykola Nazarov.

 During the discussion, the experts discussed the most relevant for Ukraine, which can be borrowed from the studied countries, as well as the experience of Ukraine, which is already being used to change the security strategies of other countries. Mykola Nazarov also shared the results of research conducted by the Center for Regional Security Studies and the Center for Social Studies of Sumy State University on the key threats faced by Ukrainians today.
