Sumy State University continues to host the Student Initiatives Forum, an annual event launched by the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies. The event is a competition for civic action projects and a place to exchange ideas, initiatives, proposals, and views on how young people can support the development of democracy and civil society in Ukraine.

Traditionally, students of the Sumy State University Medical Institute were the first to start defending their projects. The teams competed for the right to place the best projects on the All-Ukrainian Project Map, as well as to represent the university at the All-Ukrainian Student Civic Action Projects Competition, which is organized by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). Thus, the Forum is the first, qualifying stage of the All-Ukrainian Democracy Challenge. A prerequisite for the competition is the development and implementation of student projects during the study of the discipline "Integrated Course "Democracy: Values, Principles, Mechanisms", which is mandatory for students of all specialties and all forms of education at Sumy State University.

"What can we do now to live in a healthy democratic society?" This was the slogan of this year's Forum for students majoring in Medicine and Dentistry. Therefore, the problems of supporting those categories of the population who work with people, rehabilitation and integration of vulnerable categories were prioritized.
