January 15-19, associate professors of the department Tetiana Ivanova and Valentyna Opanasiuk took part in a training on clinical management of mental disorders for primary care workers. The training was organized in Sumy by the International Medical Corps as part of the WHO's program of action to address gaps in mental health care.

The training program covered the issues of PTSD, depression, suicidal behavior and borderline conditions that are extremely relevant in the context of war and the post-war period. The training covered methods of assistance and support for people facing emotional health problems. An important feature of this training is the emphasis on the aspects of social and psychological support for people with reduced levels of adaptation through increased communication with the social environment, which ultimately contributes to their social integration.

The training materials will be used in the training of higher education students within the professional programs "Psychology", "Social Work", "Medicine". In providing support for people with mental health disorders, psychological assistance, support from the environment and social support based on proper communication play a significant role.

Experienced trainers, employees of the Institute of Psychiatry of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Oksana Oliynyk, MD, Deputy Director General for Research and Education, and Vita Sydorenko, a practical psychologist at the Psychiatric Care Department of the same institute, answered all the questions of the participants and shared their own practical experience.
