February 2-3, the first training "Let's Stand Together: Comprehensive Work with Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence" was held at the Department of Psychosocial Counseling, with 12 participants from Krasnopil and Bilopil communities.

The trainers were: Svitlana Piven, PhD in Veterinary Science, Associate Professor of Public Health at Sumy State University, certified trainer in the topic "War-related sexual violence: providing comprehensive assistance to victims" and Natalia Teslyk, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies at Sumy State University.

The program of the first day of the training included 3 blocks on the following topics:

  • What is conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), national legislation and international standards.
  • Providing assistance to survivors of CRSV: the rights of survivors.
  • Providing assistance to victims of CRSV: identification, interaction of actors.

Individual and group exercises and case studies were used to consolidate theoretical knowledge. For example, to differentiate between the two concepts of "sexual violence" and "CRSV", an exercise was conducted to identify the elements of the crime. Participants gained the ability to identify CRSV and distinguish it from sexual violence based on three main aspects: who commits the crime, for what purpose and where it occurs.
