January 22, an open lecture “Stress Management, PTSD and the Protocol for Dealing with the Consequences of Acute Stress Reaction” was held as part of the cooperation between the Lifelong Learning Center and Sumy State University.

The lecturer was Halyna Dmytrenko, Head of the Psychological Service of the Sumy Regional Council's Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “Sumy Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans”, who is also a member of the Expert Council of Employers of the specialty 053 Psychology.

Halyna Mykolayivna shared her knowledge and experience in dealing with stress and stress reactions of the individual. The problem of the onset and manifestation of post-traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, and anxiety was also discussed. The information provided by the speaker was also aimed at forming a correct understanding among the participants of the symptoms of irrational human behavior, ways to provide support and assistance to avoid re-traumatization.

In addition, during the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to try out techniques for overcoming nervous tension, breathing techniques, sensory stabilization techniques, etc.



At the end of the meeting, the participants were able to ask questions to Halyna Mykolayivna, clarify unclear points of the story, and learn about the psychologist's experience of working with civilians and the military. In general, the meeting turned out to be very scientific and practical, informative and useful.
