On March 8, the International Women's Day, traditionally honors women's achievements. Gender Resource Center of Sumy State University, without betraying traditions, with the aim of preserving the historical meaning of this March event, announces a competition for politically correct greetings of the women of our university.

Students of the specialty "Social Work" visited the Sumy City Employment Center, where they practiced in search of work. It was especially important to look at the prospect and try to calculate your career growth, to outline concrete steps to achieve the desired position in the labor market. Today, our students are only getting acquainted with job search technologies (though some already have job experience), but in the near future, some of them will help other people build their careers. It should be added that this semester two third-year students, future social workers undergo industrial practice at the Sumy City Employment Center.

On February 10, 2020, a meeting of the 1st year students of the Medical Institute with the representatives of the Psychological Counseling Service of our University was held. Students were able to learn more about the peculiarities and basic forms of work of the SSU Psychological Service, to communicate with psychologists, to ask and receive answers to questions.

The bachelor’s degree students in Management of social and cultural activity took part in organize of Ukrainian Fashion Week (UFW). This Fashion Week was held in Kiev from February 1 to February 5, 2020. In addition to participating in volunteer activities, the students attended the events of the summit “BE SUSTAINABLE”. Within the framework of the summit there were the lectures, master classes, fashion shows of the Ukrainian brands which support trends of the stable fashion.

In order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/70/212 declaring 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Gender Resource Center of Sumy State University joins this initiative as support idea of increasing women involvement in science and technologies.

In the period 2020-2022 researchers of the Department will join in the implementation of the research project "Development of the methodology of cooperation of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine to counteract the legalization of criminal proceeds" (registration number 0120U100474). The purpose of the work is to develop a new methodology for the interaction of law enforcement agencies among themselves, financial institutions and other legal entities in combating and combating the legalization of criminal proceeds as a prerequisite for improving their effectiveness in the field of counteraction and combating money laundering, which will lead to theft development of the financial system and growth of living standards of the Ukrainian citizens.

The project is being implemented by the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law, the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications and Research Centre for Regional Security based on Sumy State University. The project manager is Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Oleg Reznik, the co-director of the project is Mykola Nazarov, Ph.D.

Students of the specialty "Social work" Kravchenko Inna, Strelchenko Elizabeth (3rd year) and Maryna Nikolaenko (1st year) held a forum-theater for students of the gymnasium in Krasnopil on the invitation of the public organization "Kalinove Grono".

Members of the Expert Council of Employers of the specialty "Psychology" participated in a working meeting to discuss the development strategy of the section. Deputy Head of the Branch of the State Institution "Probation Center" in Sumy Region Oksana Goncharenko noted the effectiveness of the cooperation with students. Irina Hanenko recommended to strengthen the practical component of the educational process.

Students of Sumy State University and in particular those of Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technology have been learning gender-based training courses for more than 10 years. Basics of Gender Analysis, Gender Psychology, Gender aspects of social processes, Social roles and gender equality are being offered for them for this period of time. Future social workers, psychologists and students of any other profession are able to acquire important competences in the modern world - understanding and taking into account gender equality principles in their professional activities, importance of equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities principles for women and men personally and for societies. 

`On January 21, 2020, took place an event that gave birth to the wonderful project “City Friendly for Children”. The Psychological Counseling Service of Sumy State University and the Psychology, Political Sciences and Sociocultural Technologies Department in cooperation with the Department of Extra-curricular Work of the SSU, the Information and Methodological Center of the Department of Education and Science of Sumy City Council, the Student Rectorate joined the implementation of the practical component of the project.

Sumy State University psychologists will provide a cycle of training sessions "Independent external evaluation without excitement" for senior students of Sumy, aimed at psychological preparation for the IEE.
