We congratulate senior lecturer of the Department, candidate of political sciences, head of the Research Center for Regional Security Mykola Nazarov with the victory in the contest "The Best Young Scientist of SumDU" in the nomination "Humanities and Arts". We wish you new accomplishments and victories!

With the aim of developing constructive contacts with employers and providing practical component of training on the educational program «Management of sociocultural activities» on April 19, 3-rd year students within the discipline «Event-management» listened to a lecture by producer and cultural promotion specialist Romana Batrak (Kyiv-Lviv). Lecturer – former co-founder of the NGO «CUC» (Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema), curator of the film program of the festival of popular culture Kyiv Comic Con. Her work includes a number of interesting and large-scale projects, including the promotion of Nariman Aliyev's films «Home» and Antonio Lukic's «My Thoughts Are Quiet». She is engaged in communication of film production ForeFilms and its film project, including the film «Atlantis» by Valentin Vasyanovich.

On February 17, the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center hosted a briefing entitled "Sustainability and Security: What Can Ukraine Learn from NATO?" The event was co-organized by the Center for Regional Security Studies and the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies. The discussion was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian Government, foreign diplomats, MPs of Ukraine and experts in the field of national stability.

Mykola Nazarov, Candidate of Political Science, Head of the Center for Regional Security Studies, stressed that the authorities should emphasize the regional aspect of national security. The state and the leaders of the state alone cannot build a successful state and successfully defend themselves against aggression. The result is possible only in cooperation between the state and civil society institutions.

On 10 February, students from the department took part in a series of lectures and discussions with diplomats from NATO Headquarters. The key topics of the lectures were the history and key values of NATO; the current state of relations between Ukraine and NATO and the prospect of membership; practical tools to assist the Alliance in Ukraine.

Dr. Petr Lunyak, a diplomat at NATO Headquarters, said: "It is important for NATO today to communicate with the youth of NATO and Partner countries in order to have a clear understanding of the organisation's mission and future goals".

On February 18, 2021 in the Sumy Regional Center for Social Services a career guidance meeting with foster parents and parents – educators of Sumy region took place. Practical psychologist and assistant of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technologies of Sumy State University Chernyakova Anna Anatoliyivna reported information on psychological preparation for External independent evaluation in quarantine restrictions, gave advice on choosing a future profession and answered questions from parents about the conditions of admission to SSU in various areas of training.

Sumy State University and the Department of PPST, in particular, joined the project of revival of the historical estate of I. Kharitonenko, which in time should become a powerful business card of Sumy region. The University presented a conceptual vision of the revived architectural monument as an Open Cultural Center, on the basis of which the largest innovative cultural and creative cluster of Sumy Region can be created, where museums and exhibitions, creative studios, cultural events, creation and sale of own products can be located to spend free time and provide communication of those who work in the field of culture – from state and municipal institutions to public organizations, start-up groups and individual artists.

At the same time, the creation of the Open Cultural Center is seen as a large-scale socio-cultural project, the implementation of which will help structure the cultural potential of the region, communication and mastering of participants, especially young people, of project thinking skills and activities, searching of effective use of resources and revival of patronage traditions.

In February, the Sumy Regional Center for Social Services conducted training to increase the educational potential of foster parents. Foster parents are trained every two years in accordance with the Regulations on the Foster Family and the Regulations on the Family-Type Orphanage.

As part of the training on February 16, senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technologies Korol Serhiy Mykolayovych gave a lecture-conversation on professional orientation, preparation and successful passing of External independent evaluation and admission to educational institutions – colleges, institutes and universities. A video presentation about Sumy State University was watched and information about the specialties of the university, some structural subdivisions and branches was provided.

On February 12, 2021, the Academic Council of SumDU approved a public document, which now defines the commitment of the university community to human rights and equal opportunities for all persons, regardless of gender, age, health, marital status, race, ethnicity, culture and religion. Guided by Ukraine’s international and national obligations, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men”, the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, the SumDU Gender Resource Center has developed an equality policy.

As part of the study of the integrated course "Democracy: Principles, Values, Mechanisms", focused on the formation of students' knowledge and skills of active citizenship, from 15 to 22 December 2020, the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies holds an online "Student Initiatives Forum". During the Forum, SSU students will present their projects, which were prepared under the guidance of teachers in the network of the practical part of the course.

December 18, 2020, an annual online event "Vechornytsi" for teachers and students of the Department of PPST was held. The participants of the event were invited to take a virtual tour of the world and learn how the traditions of celebrating Christmas differ in various countries. The program of the event consisted of video presentations, a Christmas quiz, interesting competitions and writing a winter fairy tale.
